Director's Background
Central Carolina Counseling was established and continues to be directed by Dr. David Norris. Dr. Norris is a licensed psychologist who was born and raised in the region. He
received his undergraduate and masters degrees from The University of North Carolina State University. Prior to starting his own group practice, Dr. Norris worked with the N. C. Baptist Children's Homes as a counselor. Later, he joined the extension faculty at N. C. State University for fifteen years where he headed the Urban Studies program as its Associate Director. Prior to beginning his clinical practice as a licensed psychologist, he trained and worked at two other group practices, Triangle Mental Health Services and Blue Ridge Psychological Services in Raleigh.
Dr. Norris describes himself as "married with four children, two dogs, and a garage filled with unfinished projects". His wife, Donna, is a Physician Assistant.
Practice Manager
Michele Jarvis is the Center's Practice Manager. She is likely to be the person you will talk to about coming in for an initial
visit, for scheduling and for filing insurance claims. She strives to keep things simple for clients while being accurate in her work. Michelle is quite experienced in working with third party payers like your health insurance company or your employee assistance program. She will make sure that you know ahead of time about your deductible and co-pay amounts and any financial or scheduling matters revelant to your treatment.
Michele has 10 years of previous work experience in Benefits with state government, and an additional 2 1/2 years in medical facilities. She attended St. Augustine's College with a major in Business Administration.
Michele has been married for 15 years, and has a son named "Cocoa" (Cocker Spaniel) that she adores.
Outside of work Michele spends her extra time catering and cooking for family and friends. One of her favorite hobbies is making wedding cakes.
